ONE LOVE

One Love appears on the album One Love Peace Concert

(Bob Marley)

One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
Hear the children crying (One Love)
Hear the children crying (One Heart)
Sayin' give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Sayin' let's get together and feel all right

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love)
There is one question I'd really like to ask (One Heart)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own?
Believe me

One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love)
So shall it be in the end (One Heart)
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
One more thing

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armageddon (One Love)
So when the Man comes there will be no no doom (One Song)
Have pity on those whose chances grove thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation

Sayin' One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
I'm pleading to mankind (One Love)
Oh Lord (One Heart)

Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Let's get together and feel all right

"One Love/People Get Ready" is a song by Bob Marley & The Wailers from their 1977 album Exodus and it has also been released on many of his compilation albums. It has become one of the most influential and known reggae songs ever. The song expressed Bob's beliefs of global unity. Marley was born in the small village of Nine Mile in the Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica.

I

CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU

Jim Reeves 1923 - 1964

I can't stop loving you
I've made up my mind
To live in memori-i-ies
Of old lonesome time

I can't stop wanting you
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life
In dreams of yesterday

Those happy hours
That we once new
Though long ago-o-o
Still make me blue

They say that time
Heals a broken heart
But time has stood still
Since we've been apart

I can't stop loving you
Done made up my mind
To live in memories
Of old lonesome time

Just can't stop wanting you
It's useless to say-ay
I'll just live my life
In dreams of yesterday

O MY LOVE IS LIKE A RED RED ROSE

Robert Burns 1794

O, my love is like a red, red rose,
That is newly sprung in June.
O, my love is like the melody,
That is sweetly played in tune.

As fair are you, my lovely lass,
So deep in love am I,
And I will love you still, my Dear,
Till all the seas go dry.

Till all the seas go dry, my Dear,
And the rocks melt with the sun!
O I will love you still, my Dear,
While the sands of life shall run

And fare you well, my only Love,
And fare you well a while!
And I will come again, my Love,
Although it were ten thousand mile.

ALL THE SEVENS

Just why is tomorrow's date (7-7-07 said to be so special ?

OR THOSE of the marrying disposition, tomorrow is the most auspicious day to wed for decades. Gamblers should also find their luck is in.
Anyone with a birthday can hope to be kissed by good chance. And the rest of us? Well, fortune should be smiling on us too.

The reason for all this bounty lies in the fact that tomorrow, Saturday, happens to fall on the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year of the millennium.

Throughout history, seven has been regarded as a perfect number. So what date could be more special than 7/07/07 - except perhaps the seventh of July 1977?

Modern man long ago forgot why seven has always been so blessed. But he still evokes that ancient knowledge when he uses the phrase 'being in the seventh heaven'. The number seven runs throughout world mythology, magic and religion and symbolises completeness and perfection.

There are seven seas, seven virtues, Seven Wonders of the World. Seven colours of the rainbow as well as repeated references in the Bible - the seven days of Creation, the seven deadly sins, and the blessing- of the seventh day which makes Sunday a day of rest.

Of course, July 7, 2005 is i remembered as one the most tragic events in recent British history - the London tube and bus bombings.

But it cannot be denied that the notion of seven being a special number goes way back beyond Biblical times, extending to our remotest ancestors. The proof lies in the group of stars known as the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters.

The acclaimed British anthropologist Stan Gooch discovered that they are the only constellation named by every culture on Earth, past and present, and going back at least 40,000 years.
The Greek legend of the Pleiades says they are six maidens and their mother, who were pursued through the forest by Orion the Hunter, until
Zeus took pity on them and changed them into stars.
The Australian Aborigines call them the hunter Wurunna. The Wyoming Indians have the seven maidens pursued by a bear

And they also play an important part in the legends of the Aztecs, the Incas, the Polynesians, the Chinese, the Masai and the Kikuyu of Kenya, the Hindus and the ancient Egyptians. They are important to all these ancient peoples because they symbolise the number seven.

THE REASON is hinted at by the phrase 'the seventh heaven'. Since pre-history, witch doc~ tors - or shamans - of every society have held the same belief: that above our earthly level there are seven heavens, the uppermost of which is the home of spirits.

The shaman was a person chosen-by the spirits to act as the intermediary between their world and the Earth. Once chosen, he had to go through a horrifically cruel and harsh training.

He (or sometimes she) may have been starved to the point of death, or lain out in the cold until frozen. It was like a long illness, and if he recovered, he would have gained magical healing powers, and would often have to ascend to the seventh heaven to consult the spirits.

It sounds like absurd superstition. Yet what makes this so extraordinary is that shamans all over the world, from the Arctic to the Amazon, from Siberia to Japan, have for eons held exactly the same beliefs, even when separated by thousands of miles of space or thousands of years in time.

The belief in seven heavens can be found all over the Near East, from India to Iran. It is echoed in the Koran, in Jewish religious belief, and in the ancient Mesopotamian priest climbing the seven steps of his ziggurat.

This is the root cause of the number seven being considered lucky - because throughout human history, mythology and
religion, the secret of good fortune /has involved the shamans passing through the concentric seven layers of he avens to progressively deeper forms of knowledge
.

Shamans insist that attaining such knowledge demands that we learn to focus the mind.

And isn't it striking that things seem to go right when we focus on them - and wrong when we don't. How, by focusing our minds, we can make our own luck.

The playwright George Bernard Shaw expressed this the very same insight in Heartbreak House, when he makes the aged
Captain Shotover explain that his basic aim in life has been to achieve the Seventh Degree of Concentration. In my younger days-I will, by coincidence, be 77 next June - co I spent a great deal of time su trying to put Shotover's recommendation into practice.

I would try to hone my powers of of concentration by fixing on certain subjects and consciously to applying as much brain power
to them as I possibly could.

The trouble was that I never ac felt anything other than rather of furrow-browed - I could never ne succeed beyond a certain point th before I lost my focus. Then one at day I stumbled on the solution by accident.

On New Year's Day, 1979, I was trapped by snow in a remote Devon farmhouse where, as an author, I had gone to lecture to some extra-mural students.

After 24 hours we decided we 'had to try to escape. It so happened that my car was the only one that would climb the slope out of the farmyard.

After several hours' hard work with shovels, we finally made it up and onto a narrow country road. Although the snow had
been churned up by traffic, it was still treacherous. And in places where the snow lay untouched, it was hard to see where the road ended and the ditch began.

SO AS I began to make my way home, I was forced to drive with total, obsessive attention in case I ended up in aditch. It took two hours to reach the main Exeter road, where I was finally able to relax. Then I noticed a fascinating thing: that everything I looked at seemed curiously real and interesting.

The two hours of concentrated effort had somehow 'fixed' my consciousness in a higher state of awareness.

There was also a tremendous feeling of optimism, a conviction that most of our problems are due to vagueness, slackness, inattention, and that they are all perfectly easy to overcome with determined effort.

This state lasted throughout the rest of the drive home. Even now, merely thinking about the experience is enough to bring back the insight and renew the certainty.

What seemed to have happened was that total attention had allowed my level of consciousness to build up a pressure far beyond its normal level.

This, I saw, was the closest I had come to Shaw's seventh degree of concentration.

Afterwards, I tried many times to re-create it, initially without success. But before long, after practice, I found that I could achieve this heightened degree of concentration and conscious ness in just about one hour, and that, I could then maintain it for at least a further hour.
And now that I have learned the trick, I shall make sure I do it tomorrow. Just to make sure it's my lucky day

"THEY now tell us, with a straight face, that in deep space, experts have discovered a billion miles of nothing. Sorry, I know I have already written about this. But I can't quite manage to stop thinking, about it. Nothing? Nothing we recognise, perhaps. Nothing we can detect. Nothing doing. Nothing happening. Nothing to report. Nothing to write home about. But surely there can't be absolutely Nothing at all. And why 'a billion miles'? This may sound like a lot, but I rather feel it's not big enough to be convincing. Surely, nothing lasts for ever!

A BILLION miles of 'nothing' in space. I still can't stop thinking about it. I reckon those people who sell the names of stars as novelty gifts should package it up. This would entitle the new 'owners' to sing the Gershwin lyrics from Porgy And Bess: 'I've got plenty of nothing... and nothing's plenty for me.'
Alternatively, those from a different generation could hum the Dire Straits tune Money For Nothing. Then one day, when we crack the conundrum of how to travel faster than light, tourists can go there for excursions - while singing the movie song Busy Doing Nothing.

ENTANGLEMENTS

Quantum entanglement is a quantum mechanical phenomenon in which the quantum states of two or more objects have to be described with reference to each other ...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_entanglement

Quantum entanglement

Quantum entanglement is a quantum mechanical phenomenon in which the quantum states of two or more objects have to be described with reference to each other, even though the individual objects may be spatially separated. This leads to correlations between observable physical properties of the systems. For example, it is possible to prepare two particles in a single quantum state such that when one is observed to be spin-up, the other one will always be observed to be spin-down and vice versa, this despite the fact that it is impossible to predict, according to quantum mechanics, which set of measurements will be observed. As a result, measurements performed on one system seem to be instantaneously influencing other systems entangled with it. But quantum entanglement does not enable the transmission of classical information faster than the speed of light (see discussion in next section below).

Quantum entanglement applications in the emerging technologies of quantum computing and quantum cryptography, and has been used to realize quantum teleportation experimentally. At the same time, it prompts some of the more philosophically oriented discussions concerning quantum theory. The correlations predicted by quantum mechanics, and observed in experiment, reject the principle of local realism , which is that information about the state of a system should only be mediated by interactions in its immediate surroundings. Different views of what is actually occurring in the process of quantum entanglement can be related to different interpretations of quantum mechanics.

Indus (constellation)

Indus Indus (IPA: /'indəs/) is a southern constellation that is supposed to represent an American Indian.

Epsilon Indi is one of the closest stars to Earth, approximately 11.82 light years away.

[edit History]

The constellation was one of twelve constellations created by Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman between 1595 and 1597, and it first appeared in Johann Bayer's Uranometria of 1603.

Since Indus was introduced in the 17th century, and lies in the south, it was not known to classical or early cultures thus they produced no mythology concerning it.

A synopsis of the Harappan Civilization by Vinay Lal of the UCLA History Department.
www.sscnet.ucla.edu/southasia/History/Ancient/Indus2.html

Indus Valley Civilization.

"The earliest traces of civilization in the Indian subcontinent are to be found in places along, or close, to the Indus river. Excavations first conducted in 1921-22, in the ancient cities of Harappa and Mohenjodaro, both now in Pakistan, pointed to a highly complex civilization that first developed some 4,500-5,000 years ago, and subsequent archaeological and historical research has now furnished us with a more detailed picture of the Indus Valley Civilization and its inhabitants. The Indus Valley people were most likely Dravidians, who may have been pushed down into south India when the Aryans, with their more advanced military technology, commenced their migrations to India around 2,000 BCE. Though the Indus Valley script remains undeciphered down to the present day, the numerous seals discovered during the excavations, as well as statuary and pottery, not to mention the ruins of numerous Indus Valley cities, have enabled scholars to construct a reasonably plausible account of the Indus Valley Civilization.

Some kind of centralized state, and certainly fairly extensive town planning, is suggested by the layout of the great cities of Harappa and Mohenjodaro. The same kind of burnt brick appears to have been used in the construction of buildings in cities that were as much as several hundred miles apart. The weights and measures show a very considerable regularity. The Indus Valley people domesticated animals, and harvested various crops, such as cotton, sesame, peas, barley, and cotton. They may also have been a sea-faring people, and it is rather interesting that Indus Valley seals have been dug up in such places as Sumer. In most respects, the Indus Valley Civilization appears to have been urban, defying both the predominant idea of India as an eternally and essentially agricultural civilization, as well as the notion that the change from ‘rural’ to ‘urban’ represents something of a logical progression. The Indus Valley people had a merchant class that, evidence suggests, engaged in extensive trading.

Neither Harappa nor Mohenjodaro show any evidence of fire altars, and consequently one can reasonably conjecture that the various rituals around the fire which are so critical in Hinduism were introduced later by the Aryans. The Indus Valley people do not appear to have been in possession of the horse: there is no osteological evidence of horse remains in the Indian sub-continent before 2,000 BCE, when the Aryans first came to India, and on Harappan seals and terracotta figures, horses do not appear. Other than the archaeological ruins of Harappa and Mohenjodaro, these seals provide the most detailed clues about the character of the Indus Valley people. Bulls and elephants do appear on these seals, but the horned bull, most scholars are agreed, should not be taken to be congruent with Nandi, or Shiva’s bull. The horned bull appears in numerous Central Asian figures as well; it is also important to note that Shiva is not one of the gods invoked in the Rig Veda. The revered cow of the Hindus also does not appear on the seals. The women portrayed on the seals are shown with elaborate coiffures, sporting heavy jewelry, suggesting that the Indus Valley people were an urbane people with cultivated tastes and a refined aesthetic sensibility. A few thousand seals have been discovered in Indus Valley cities, showing some 400 pictographs: too few in number for the language to have been ideographic, and too many for the language to have been phonetic.

The Indus Valley civilization raises a great many, largely unresolved, questions. Why did this civilization, considering its sophistication, not spread beyond the Indus Valley? In general, the area where the Indus valley cities developed is arid, and one can surmise that urban development took place along a river that flew through a virtual desert. The Indus Valley people did not develop agriculture on any large scale, and consequently did not have to clear away a heavy growth of forest. Nor did they have the technology for that, since they were confined to using bronze or stone implements. They did not practice canal irrigation and did not have the heavy plough. Most significantly, under what circumstances did the Indus Valley cities undergo a decline? The first attacks on outlying villages by Aryans appear to have taken place around 2,000 BCE near Baluchistan, and of the major cities, at least Harappa was quite likely over-run by the Aryans. In the Rig Veda there is mention of a Vedic war god, Indra, destroying some forts and citadels, which could have included Harappa and some other Indus Valley cities. The conventional historical narrative speaks of a cataclysmic blow that struck the Indus Valley Civilization around 1,600 BCE, but that would not explain why settlements at a distance of several hundred miles from each other were all eradicated. The most compelling historical narrative still suggests that the demise and eventual disappearance of the Indus Valley Civilization, which owed something to internal decline, nonetheless was facilitated by the arrival in India of the Aryans."

Anthropos

Anthropos, literally translated "humanity," was a term used by the Gnostic teacher Valentinus in his teachings to describe the archetypical or spiritual essence of humanity, which was opposite of the collective meaning of the term humanity. Valentinus stated the church consists of the portion of humanity that recognizes and celebrates its divine origin. This could refer to the followers of Valentinus who "considered (themselves) more skillful" than the rest and agreed with the teacher Colorbasus, who said when God revealed himself, He revealed himself in the form of Anthopos. Still others maintained that

that the primal father of the whole, the primal beginning, and the primal incomprehensible, is called Anthropos…and that is the great and abstruse mystery, namely, that the power which is above all others, and contains all others in its embrace, is called Anthopos.

This is the reason that those Gnostics believing in the concept of Anthropos explained, the Savior called himself "Son of Man" (that is, Son of Anthropos). A.G.H.

Ime Anthropos Ki Ego (Greek script: Είμαι άνθρωπος κι εγώ, English translation: "I'm A Person Too") was the Cypriot entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, performed in Greek by Evridiki.
The song was performed fourth on the night (following Ireland's Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan with Rock 'n' Roll Kids and preceding Iceland's Sigga with Nætur). At the close of voting, it had received 51 points, placing 11th in a field of 25.

The song is a plea for peace, with Evridiki singing that she (and, by extension, everyone else) is a person too, and entitled to the same privileges as everyone else.

It was succeeded as Cypriot representative at the 1995 Contest by Alexandros Panayi with Sti Fotia

Thothmes III

Red granite statue of Pharaoh Thutmose III. Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Egypt.Thutmose III (also written as Tuthmosis III) was a Pharaoh of Egypt in the 18th Dynasty.
He was the son of Pharaoh Thutmose II and Isis, a minor wife. When Thutmose II died in 1504 BC, Thutmose III became ruler. However, he shared the beginning of his reign with Hatshepsut, his father's wife, who acted as regent and eventually co-ruler. For approximately 22 years Thutmose III had little power over the empire. He married Hatshepsut's youngest daughter, Meritre, with whom he had a son named Ahmose II. At some point, however, Hatshepsut disappears from the historical record and Thutmose III ruled by himself until his death in 1427 BC (some sources list his death ranging from 1425 BC to 1430 BC).

He was an active expansionist ruler, sometimes referred to as the "Napoleon of Egypt", because he was recorded to have conquered 350 cities during his rule, conquering much of the Near East.

His tomb in the Valley of the Kings is the first in which we find the complete Amduat, an important New Kingdom Ancient Egyptian funerary text.

Ruins of Deir el-Medina. A UNESCO World Heritage Site[1]Deir el-Medina (Arabic: دير المدينة‎) is an ancient Egyptian village which was home to the artisans who worked on the tombs in the Valley of the Kings during the New Kingdom period (18th to 20th dynasties).[2] The settlement's ancient name was "Set Maat" (translated as "The Place of Truth"), and the workmen who lived there were called “servants in the Place of Truth”.[3] During the Christian era the temple of Hathor was converted into a Church from which the Arabic name Deir el-Medina ( "the monastery of the town") is derived.[4]

At the time when the world's press was concentrating on Howard Carter's discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun a team led by Bernard Bruyère began to excavate the site.[5] This work has resulted in one of the most thoroughly documented accounts of community life in the ancient world that spans almost four hundred years. There is no comparable site in which the organisation, social interactions, working and living conditions of a community can be studied in such detail.[6]

The site is located on the west bank of the Nile, across the river from modern-day Luxor.[7] The village is laid out in a small natural amphitheatre, within easy walking distance of the Valley of the Kings to the north, funerary temples to the east and south-east, with the Valley of the Queens to the west.[8] The village may have been built apart from the wider population in order to preserve secrecy in view of sensitive nature of the work carried out in the tombs.[9]

Hadadezer ("Hadad is my help"); also known as Adad-Idri (Assyr.) and possibly the same as Bar-Hadad II (Aram.); Ben-Hadad II (Heb.), was the king of Aram Damascus at the time of the battle of Qarqar against the Assyrian king Shalmaneser III in 853 BCE. He and Irhuleni of Hamath led a coalition of eleven kings (listed as twelve) at Qarqar (including Ahab of Israel). He fought Shalmaneser six other times, twice more with the aid of Irhuleni and possibly the rest of the coalition that fought at Qarqar.

He is mentioned in the insccriptions on the Tel Dan Stele; he seems most likely to be the unknown author's father. He was succeeded by Hazael after he was suffocated in the night by him. Some accounts claim that Hazael was in fact his son.

ISAIAH CHAPTER 55

"Ho all who are thirsty, come to water…" (v 1). "After the war of Gog and Magog the nations will recognize that God rules over all and that there is none beside Him, and then they will come to Jerusalem to learn God's laws and teachings… Water is a metaphor for Torah and wisdom – for just as the world cannot survive without water, so the world cannot survive without wisdom, and just as a thirsty person craves for water, so the wise soul craves for Torah and wisdom… The Torah is also compared to wine and milk. Just as wine makes the heart rejoice, so do words of Torah. And just as milk keeps a baby alive and makes it grow, so words of Torah keep the soul alive and make it grow" (RaDaK ad loc.).

"Why do you spend money for that which is not bread?" (v 2) – "Why should you pay your enemies money without receiving bread?" (Rashi ad loc.) "Why do you pay a high price to study alien systems of wisdom and philosophy that have no benefit?" (Metzudas David ad loc.)

"Hear and your soul shall live" (v 3) – "Listen to Me and you will merit to stand in the resurrection in the days of Mashiach" (Metzudas David ad loc.). "And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure loving promises of David" (v 3) – "This is Mashiach, for he will be called by the name of David… He will be the teacher of the nations 'and he will judge between the nations and rebuke many peoples' (Is. 2:4)" (RaDaK ad loc.).

"Seek HaShem while He may be found…" (v 6). Isaiah now addresses the people in exile, calling on them to repent. They should seek God "while He may be found" – i.e. "BEFORE the decree is finalized, while He is still telling you to seek Him out" (Rashi). "…while He is NEAR" – "seek Him in such a way that He will be near, i.e. when you seek Him WITH ALL YOUR HEART" (RaDaK). "Seek out the fear of HaShem while you are still alive" (Targum).

"For My thoughts are not as Your thoughts…" (v 8) "My laws are not like the laws of flesh and blood. In your world, if a man admits to a crime he is judged guilty, but by My law, 'Whoever confesses and forsakes [his sins] shall be shown mercy' (Proverbs 28:13)" (Rashi on v 8). "If a man commits an offense against his fellow, he takes vengeance on him and will not forgive him, and even if he forgives him on the surface he nurses a grudge in his heart… But I am full of forgiveness. And when I forgive, I do so in truth, and no trace of the sin remains" (RaDaK on v 8).

"For as the rain comes down… and does not return there but waters the earth…" (v 9) – "The rain and the snow do not return to the skies through evaporation without first watering the earth… Sometimes a person sends someone to do something but the agent comes back without accomplishing his mission. But 'My word… shall not return to Me empty'" (Metzudas David ad loc.).

"For you shall go out with joy…" (v 12). The redemption will bring great joy. Moreover, joy – SIMCHAH – itself is the avenue that leads to redemption. "It is a great mitzvah to be joyful always" (Rabbi Nachman of Breslov).

"Instead of the thorn, the cypress shall arise…" (v 13) – "In place of the wicked, the righteous will rise up" (Rashi ad loc.). The "thorn" and the "nettle" refer to Haman and Vashti, while the "cypress" and the "myrtle refer to Mordechai and Esther (Megillah 10b).

CHAPTER 56

"Guard justice and practice charity, for My salvation is near to come…" (v 1). "Great is charity for it brings the redemption closer" (Bava Kama 10a). "Great is Teshuvah for it brings the redemption closer. Great is charity for it brings salvation closer" (Yoma 87a).

"Happy is the man that does this… that keeps the Sabbath…" (v 2). "The Sabbath is mentioned specifically at this juncture because the prophet is addressing the people in exile, urging them to improve their ways in order to leave their exile, and the best of all pathways is the observance of the Sabbath, while the exile from the land came about because of the transgression of the Sabbath" (RaDaK on v 2). "Whoever observes the Sabbath according to its laws, even if he worshiped idols as in the days of Enosh, he will be forgiven… If Israel kept two Sabbaths according to the law, they would be redeemed immediately" (Shabbos 118b).

"Let not the son of the stranger who has joined himself to HaShem say, HaShem will surely separate me from His people, nor let the eunuch say, Behold I am a dry tree" (v 3). The "son of the stranger" is a convert who does not have children after his conversion; he is similar to a "eunuch" who has no children… Such a convert may think that he will not be considered a member of HaShem's people either in this world or in the world to come, and likewise the childless may think that if he leaves no son after him it is as if he never came into the world and God takes no favor in him, since God created the world for the sake of procreation…" (RaDaK on v 3).

But quite the contrary, God promises that those childless "that will observe My Sabbaths" (=the weekly Sabbaths and the Sabbatical years, RaDaK) will receive "in My House and within My walls (=the Temple in Jerusalem ) a place and a name (YAD VASHEM) better than sons and daughters" (v 5). [The name YAD VASHEM has been given to Israel 's Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem .] Likewise God promises the "children of the stranger" that "I shall bring them to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My House of Prayer…" (v 7). "Just as a person brings a guest into his home and receives him gladly, so God says, I shall command the priests to accept them gladly when they come to convert, and they will rejoice when they see themselves in the Temple courtyard year by year with the people of Israel" (RaDaK).

"For My house shall be called the House of Prayer for all the nations (v 7) – "Not only for Israel alone but also for those of the nations who convert" (see Rashi and Metzudas David ad loc.).

"HaShem God who gathers the outcasts of Israel says, Yet will I gather others to him, besides those of him that are already gathered" (v 8): "I shall gather in more converts to be added to all the ingathered people of Israel " (Metzudas David).

"All you beasts of the field: come into the forest to devour all the beasts thereof" (v 9). "The beasts of the field do not have as much strength as the beasts of the forest. The 'beasts of the field' refers to the gentiles who will not harden their hearts but will convert. They shall 'devour' (win over?) those who harden their hearts and continue their rebellion" (Metzudas David ad loc.).

"His watchmen are all blind: they are ignorant…" (v 10). This verse begins a new section of five verses continuing until chapter 57 v 2 (notwithstanding the conventional chapter break in printed Bibles, which violates the continuity of the Hebrew text).

"After completing the previous prophecy of consolation, the prophet returns to rebuking the wicked people of his generation" (RaDaK on v 10).

"The prophet began by saying, 'Seek out HaShem' (Is. 55:6) but the people do not listen. He therefore now says: See how the prophets are crying to them to repent for their own wellbeing, but their leaders are all like blind men who do not see what is developing. They are like a watcher appointed to see if the sword is approaching in order to warn the people, but he is blind and fails to see the sword coming, dumb and unable to warn the people – like a dog appointed to guard the house but he is dumb and does not bark. Likewise the leaders of Israel fail to warn the people to repent… Just as dogs never know satisfaction, these 'shepherds' do not know or understand what will happen at the end of days… 'Every one is out for his own gain': They rob the rest of the people over whom they are appointed" (Rashi on vv 10-11).

Let us be the ones who hear the call of HaShem in order that our souls shall live!

And soon after that the owners of these voices could be seen. They were birds, large and white, and they came by hundreds and thousands and alighted on everything; on the grass, and the pavement, on the table, on your shoulders, your hands, and your head, till it looked as if heavy snow had fallen. For, like snow, they not only made / Page 157 / everything white but blurred and blunted all shapes. But Lucy, looking out from between the wings of the birds that covered her, saw one bird fly to the Old Man with something in its beak that looked like a little fruit, unless it was a little live coal, which it might have been, for it was too bright to look at. And the bird laid it in the Old Man's mouth.

3

"And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory."

6

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

But Lucy, looking out from between the wings of the birds that covered her, saw one bird fly to the Old Man with something in its beak that looked like a little fruit, unless it was a little live coal, which it might have been, for it was too bright to look at. And the bird laid it in the Old Man's mouth.
Then the birds stopped their singing and appeared to be very busy about the table. When they rose from it again everything on the table that could be eaten or drunk had disappeared. These birds rose from their meal in their thousands and hundreds and carried away all the things that could not be eaten or drunk, such as bones, rinds, and shells, and took their flight back to the rising sun. But now, because they were not singing, the whir of their wings seemed to set the whole air a-tremble. And there was the table pecked clean and empty, and the three old Lords of Narnia still fast asleep.
Now at last the Old Man turned to the travellers and bade them welcome.
"Sir," said Caspian, "will you tell us how to undo the enchantment which holds these three Narnian Lords asleep. "
"I will gladly tell you that, my son," said the Old Man. "To break this enchantment you must sail to the World's End, or as near as you can come to it, and you must come back having left at least one of your company behind."
"And what must happen to that one?" asked Reepicheep. "He must go on into the utter east and never return into the world." "That is my heart's desire," said Reepicheep.
"And are we near the World's End now, Sir?" asked Caspian. "Have you any knowledge of the seas and lands further east than this?" / Page 158 / "I saw them long ago," said the Old Man, "but it was from a great height. I cannot tell you such things as sailors need to know. "
"Do you mean you were flying in the air?" Eustace blurted out.
"I was a long way above the air, my son," replied the Old Man. "I am Ramandu. But I see that you stare at one another and have not heard this name. And no wonder, for the days when I was a star had ceased long before any of you knew this world, and all the constellations have changed. "
"Golly," said Edmund under his breath. "He's a retired star. " .
"Aren't you a star any longer?" asked Lucy.
"I am a star at rest, my daughter," answered Ramandu.

Page 159

"When I set for the last time, decrepit and old beyond all that you can reckon, I was carried to this island. I am not so old now as I was then. Every morning a bird brings me a fire-berry from the valleys in the Sun, and each fire-berry takes away a little of my age. And when 1 have become as young as the child that was born yesterday, then I shall take my rising again (for we are at earth's eastern rim) and once more tread the great dance."
"In our world," said Eustace, "a star is a huge ball of flaming gas. "
"Even in your world, my son, that is not what a star is but only what it is made of. And in this world you have already met a star: for I think you have been with Coriakin. "
"Is he a retired star, too?" said Lucy.
"Well, not quite the same," said Ramandu. "It was not quite as a rest that he was set to govern the Duffers. You might call it a punishment. He might have shone for thousands of years more in the southern winter sky if all had gone well. "
"What did he do, Sir?" asked Caspian.
"My son," said Ramandu, "it is not for you, a son of Adam, to know what faults a star can commit. But come, we waste time in such talk. Are you yet resolved? Will you sail further east and come again, leaving one to return no more, and so break the enchantment? Or will you sail westward?"
"Surely, Sire," said Reepicheep, "there is no question about that? It is very plainly part of our quest to rescue these three lords from enchantment"
"I think the same, Reepicheep," replied Caspian. "And even if it were not so, it would break my heart not to go as near the World's End as the Dawn Treader will take us. But I am thinking of the crew. They signed on to seek the / Page 160 / seven lords, not to reach the rim of the Earth. If we sail east from here we sail to find the edge, the utter east. And no one knows how far it is. They're brave fellows, but I see signs that some of them are weary of the voyage and long to have our prow pointing to Narnia again. I don't think I should take them further without their knowledge and consent. And then there's the poor Lord Rhoop. He's a broken man. "
"My son," said the star, "it would be no use, even though you wished it, to sail for the World's End with men unwilling or men deceived. That is not how great unenchantments are achieved. They must know where they go and why. But who is this broken man you speak of?"
Caspian told Ramandu the story of Rhoop.
"I can give him what he needs most," said Ramandu. "In this island there is sleep without stint or measure, and sleep in which no faintest footfall of a dream was ever heard. Let him sit beside these other three and drink oblivion till your return."
"Oh, do let's do that, Caspian," said Lucy. "I'm sure it's just what he would love."
At that moment they were interrupted by the sound of many feet and voices: Drinian and the rest of the ship's company were approaching. They halted in surprise when they saw Ramandu and his daughter; and then, because these were obviously great people, every man uncovered his head. Some sailors eyed the empty dishes and flagons on the table with regret.
"My lord," said the King to Drinian, "pray send two men back to the Dawn Treader with a message to the Lord Rhoop. Tell him that the last of his old shipmates are here asleep - a sleep without dreams - and that he can share it."

When this had been done, Caspian told the rest to sit down and laid the whole situation before them. When he / Page 161 / had finished there was a long silence and some whispering until presently the Master Bowman got to his feet, and said:
"What some of us have been wanting to ask for a long time, your Majesty, is how we're ever to get home when we do turn, whether we turn here or somewhere else. It's been west and north-west winds all the way, barring an occasional calm. And if that doesn't change, I'd like to know what hopes we have of seeing Narnia again. There's not much chance of supplies lasting while we row all that way."
"That's landsman's talk," said Drinian. "There's always a prevailing west wind in these seas all through the late summer, and it always changes after the New Year. We'll have plenty of wind for sailing westward; more than we shall like from all accounts."
"That's true, Master," said an old sailor who was a Galmian by birth. "You get some ugly weather rolling up from the east in January and February. And by your leave, Sire, if I was in command of this ship I'd say to winter here and begin the voyage home in March. "
"What'd you eat while you were wintering here?" asked Eustace.
"This table," said Ramandu, "will be filled with a king's feast every day at sunset."
"Now you're talking!" said several sailors.
"Your Majesties and gentlemen and ladies all," said Rynelf, "there's just one thing I want to say. There's not one of us chaps as was pressed on this journey. We're volunteers. And there's some here that are looking very hard at that table and thnking about king's feasts who were talking very loud about adventures on the day we sailed from Cair Paravel, and swearing they wouldn't come home till we'd found the end of the world."

"There is no such word in Sanscrita as 'Creation' applied to the universe. The Sanscrita word for Creation is Shristi, which means 'projection' Creation means to bring something into being out /Page 9/ of nothing, to create, as a novelist creates a character. There was no Miranda, for example, until Shakespeare created her. Similarly the ancient Indians (this term is innacurately used as there was no India at that time). who were our ancestors long, long ago. used a word for creation that means 'projection'.

The eye of God!

IT STARES down at us from the depths of space, watching our tiny world from 700 light years away. Scientists have nicknamed the image - captured by a giant telescope on the Chilean mountains - the eye of God.
In fact, it shows the death throes of a star similar to our Sun. The blue pupil, the white of the eye and pink lid are created by layers of gas and dust thrown off and illuminated by the star as it comes to the end of its life over the course of thousands of years.
The eye, known as the Helix nebula, is so huge that it would take a beam of light two-and-a-half years to cross it.
Our own sun is expected to suffer a similar fate - but not for five billion years.

"Following the 2005 discovery of two other natural satellites of Pluto (Nix and Hydra), Charon may also be referred to as Pluto I. The New Horizons mission ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charon_(moon)

"Charon (pronounced /ˈʃærən/; also /ˈkɛərən/,[7] as in Greek: Χάρων), discovered in 1978, is the largest moon of the dwarf planet Pluto. Following the 2005 discovery of two other natural satellites of Pluto (Nix and Hydra), Charon may also be referred to as Pluto I. The New Horizons mission is scheduled to visit Charon and Pluto in July 2015.

Charon should not be confused with the similarly named Chiron, a smaller object in the outer solar system."

OUR solar system is full of asteroids. Most circle the Sun between Mars and Jupiter — and all are of great interest to astrologers. Many of my colleagues habitually plot their movements and incorporate them into their clients' birth charts. One particular asteroid creates great fascination. Chiron has an 'eccentric orbit', all on its own between Jupiter and Uranus. Chiron is generally viewed as a healing influence. Next month, something rare and special starts to happen. The once-every-13-year conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune aligns exactly with Chiron. Tomorrow, I will explain why this is seen as so auspicious.

YESTERDAY, I described Chiron as an asteroid with an unusual orbit. Technically, Chiron (pronounced Ky-ron) belongs to a special category called centaurs. They are half-asteroid, half-comet; temporary visitors to our solar system. Chiron was a centaur in legend, too. Not all these mythical creatureshalf-human, half-horse — were healers, but Chiron was (and remains) a symbol of 'potential for recovery. Since its discovery in 1977, Chiron has aligned with many planets — but soon, it will hold the same zodiac position as the rare, positive, Jupiter/Neptune conjunction, giving this powerful, periodic force for good an extra boost.

"In Greek mythology,Charon or Kharon (Greek Χάρων; IPA: /ˈkɛərən/) was the ferryman of Hades who carried souls of the newly deceased across the river that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead. A coin to pay Charon for passage, usually an obolus or danake, was sometimes placed in or on the mouth of a dead person.[1] Some authors say that those who could not pay the fee, or those whose bodies were left unburied, had to wander the shores for one hundred years. In the catabasis mytheme, heroes — such as Heracles, Orpheus, Aeneas, Dionysus and Psyche — journey to the underworld and return, still alive, conveyed by the boat of Charon."

WISDOM OF THE EAST

by Hari Prasad Shastri 1948

Page 8

"There is no such word in Sanscrita as 'Creation' applied to the universe. The Sanscrita word for Creation is Shristi, which means 'projection' Creation means to bring something into being out /Page 9/ of nothing, to create, as a novelist creates a character. There was no Miranda, for example, until Shakespeare created her. Similarly the ancient Indians (this term is innacurately used as there was no India at that time). who were our ancestors long, long ago. used a word for creation that means 'projection'

UNCONDITIONAL LIFE

MASTERING THE FORCES THAT SHAPE PERSONAL REALITY

Deepak Chopra 1991

A Mirage of Miracles

Page 89

"The Mask of Maya"

"...denoting the ability of gods to change form, to make worlds, to assume masks and disguises."

"Maya also means magic a show of illusions"

"Maya also denotes the delusion of thinking that you are seeing reality when in fact you are only seeing a layer of trick effects superimposed upon the real reality

True to its deceptive nature, Maya is full of paradoxes. First of all it is everywhere, even though it doesnt exist. It is / Page 90 / often compared with a desert mirage, yet unlike a mirage Maya does not merely float "out there" The Mysterious One is nowhere if not in each person. Finally Maya is not so omnipotent that we cannot control it - and that is the key point Maya is fearfull or diverting all powerful or completely impotent depending on your perspective."

"The fearfull illusion becomes a wonderful show if only you can manipulate it."

THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN

Thomas Mann

1875-1955

Page 466

"Had not the normal, since time was, lived on the achievements of the abnormal? Men consciously and voluntarily descended into disease and madness, in search of knowledge which, acquired by fanaticism, would lead back to health; after the possession and use of it had ceased to be conditioned by that heroic and abnormal act of sacrifice. That was the true death on the cross, the true Atonement."
